- Mid-Continent Regional ASCE Student Steel Bridge
Competition
1st Place Overall
The UMKC ASCE Steel Bridge Team scored 1st Place Overall, 2nd
Place went to K-State, and 3rd Place went to Missouri S&T. The scores of 1st
place in the categories of economy, stiffness, construction speed,
efficiency, and aesthetics; and 2nd place in the category of lightness are
outstanding across a field of 11 other teams which included Missouri
S&T,
University of Missouri - Columbia,
K-State, and University of Kansas.

Competition
7th Place Overall
Scored a 7th Place Overall out of 42 teams that attended
the competition. Our best result was in the Stiffness category
in which we placed 1st.

Scored a 21th Place Overall out of 43 teams that attended
the competition. Our best result was in the Economy category
in which we placed 15th.

Without a doubt, the UMKC ASCE Steel Bridge team truly understood the
functionalities and aesthetics bridge builders try to express with
their designs. The scores of 1st
place in the categories of economy, stiffness, and construction
speed, 2nd place in the categories of efficiency and
weight, and 3rd place in the category of aesthetics are
outstanding across a field of 12 other teams which included UMR, MU,
K-State, Washington University and University of Kansas.
