Congratulations on Sean Comer

being accepted by the U.S. Navy Program

Congratulations on Sean Comer being accepted by the U.S. Navy Program. He is considered an active reservist and will be paid to finish college for the next year. Upon graduation from college, he will attend Officer Candidate School and after commissioning as an officer, will attend the Naval Nuclear Power School (NNPTC) in South Carolina to complete a 24-week, graduate level course of study in science and technology designed to provide theoretical knowledge of nuclear power. Upon completion of the graduate coursework, he will be sent to "prototype", which is hands-on training at an operational nuclear power plant. After all the training is over, he will oversee nuclear engineering operations and navigational duties on a submarine.

Sean in Washington D.C.

The application process involved references from faculty in Civil and Mechanical Engineering at UMKC and employers, as well as a security clearance involving an investigation. Upon completion of his application, an interview was performed in Washington D.C. at the Naval Reactors headquarters. This involved testing in Calculus and Physics, as well as tests in engineering coursework that had been taken. Admiral Donald, the Director of Naval Nuclear Propulsion, then met with each candidate and performed the final interview.
