The Mission of the Department
The vision of the Civil and Mechanical Engineering Departments is to turn out high quality graduates that meet the needs of our society. Specifically, this means that Civil and Mechanical engineering graduates must be prepared and confident in their abilities to assist industry, and that they will advance within industry's ranks. Moreover, the Civil and Mechanical Engineering programs should strive to serve the community's need for continuing education. The Civil and Mechanical engineering programs should also attempt to build a business component into their programs, without requiring the time and expense it takes to earn a second degree. UMKC Civil and Mechanical Engineering graduates must be equipped with a broader complement of skills than has previously been provided in engineering curriculums so that they may operate in the increasingly competitive global community.
