Our congratulations to our UMKC ASCE Steel Bridge team and its bridge!  They have won 1st place competing at the 2006 Mid-Continent Regional ASCE Steel Bridge Competition held Thursday, April 27th, in Columbia, MO. Without a doubt, the UMKC ASCE Steel Bridge team truly understood the functionalities and aesthetics bridge builders try to express with their designs.  The scores of 1st place in the categories of economy, stiffness, and construction speed,  2nd place in the categories of efficiency and weight, and 3rd place in the category of aesthetics are outstanding across a field of 12 other teams which included UMR, UMC, K-State, Washington University and University of Kansas.

We know that our  Steel Bridge Team has spent countless hours and many a long night designing and fabricating the
1st place winner
at this year’s regional competition and winning an invitation to the national competition in Salt Lake City on May 26th!  The Steel Bridge’s Team’s efforts are greatly appreciated by our school.  We are extremely fortunate to have students who are able, without external help, to design, fabricate and build to complex specifications a bridge that won the respect of your fellow competitors at the contest and placed impressively across all categories.

Good luck in Salt Lake City!
