IEEE Student Chapter Activities Win National Recognition
UMKC IEEE's student chapter members exemplify how healthy competition can achieve so much more than just a win or loss.  Competing for the second time in the IEEE Robotics competition held at the 2006 IEEE Region 5 Technical, Professional and Student Conference in San Antonio, TX during April, 2006, our UMKC IEEE Robotics team placed sixth after the first round and finished thirteenth overall out of a field of 36 robotics teams and Jonathan Rodgers, ECE student, received the IEEE Region 5, which encompasses eighty universities across a twelve state area, Outstanding Student Member award. Using their robot expertise, these students logged over 100 volunteer outreach hours, serving a FIRST Robotics coaches and attending diverse events designed to encourage students to pursue studies and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Full details here.
